Technology & Equipment
The MA/MFA Choreographing Live Art holds its own technological equipment that is used entirely for this program by the students. The equipment is built specifically for facilitating the advanced technological module “Research and Development: Delivery & Dissemination” and “Advanced Somatic Practices: Technology, Bioart and Cyberbodies”.
Here is a list of some of the equipment:
Apart from the above equipment, the students have full access to all equipment of the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre and the Lincoln School of Performing Arts.
Students have access to the LPAC, LSA and LSAD. Students may also take a small artistic residency abroad for the Research & Development: Experimentation and Studio Practice module.
Lincoln Performing Arts Centre & Lincoln School of Performing Arts
The Lincoln School of Performing Arts is located within the state-of-the-art Lincoln Performing Arts Centre (LPAC). The Lincoln Performing Arts Centre (LPAC) is a £6 million purpose-built arts centre which runs its own unique programme of public arts events throughout the year ranging from professional touring theatre and dance companies to weekly free live jazz in its bar and café. The Centre includes a 450-seat theatre and three large studio spaces for performance and rehearsal. Facilities also include rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms and a full workshop for the building of sets and props.
Lincoln School of Arts and Design
The LSAD is a distinguished part of the University of Lincoln. It is an ‘ideas factory’ in which to study, learn and socialise and is currently based in a number of buildings in the city centre, some of which are of historical significance and all of which are within easy walking distance from one another. You will find a range of distinctive studio environments each demonstrating a close relationship to their own specific contexts and teaching and research methods. Studios and workshop are well equipped with good quality facilities, including a recently established rapid prototyping and laser cutting resource. Current projects include a substantial building provision for the School of Art and Design, due to open in September 2013, which will consolidate all School activities on the Brayford Campus. The School currently maintains the Greenstone Gallery, which has recently hosted shows from visiting American artists Richard Snyder and Susan Moore, and Chuck Schmidt. Additionally it provides good opportunities for students and staff to curate shows and exhibit their own work.
Lincoln School of Architecture
The Lincoln School of Architecture is located an award-winning building designed by Rick Mather. The School offers a quality, dynamic, multidisciplinary, 3-D design environment, founded on the research and consultancy interests of its staff.
Artistic residency in a professional setting
The module Research and Development: Experimentation and Studio Practice aims to be delivered as an artistic residency possibly in a professional live art venue/hub. Currently the programme has established a relationship with the Live Art Development Agency (London) and the Performing Arts Forum (St. Erme, France) and we are looking for other partners too. This residency will provide the students the space and time to focus on their research whilst experiencing working in a professional setting.
